1 x 60 minute prime-time documentary for BBC1. Broadcaster and journalist Amol Rajan goes on an ancient Hindu pilgrimage, The Kumbh Mela, on the banks of the river Ganges. Amol was born in India to a practicing Hindu family but he now considers himself an atheist. He’s really struggled to come to terms with the death of his father three years ago andhe wonders if attending this pilgrimage could help him reconnect with his routes and process his grief?

Amol joins half a billion people from all over the world - all with one quest: to bathe in the sacred waters.
